The last playlist from 1982. "New Wave" was in full swing and our playlists at the time reflected this with heavy doses along-side the latest releases from the pioneers of progressive and rock. Programming featured multiple cuts being programmed from these LPs simultaneously, and chart position was determined by counting up total cut-plays (using the song strips on the covers--remember? Very concise!) per LP every two weeks. This was the time when major labels were actually starting to acknowledge college radio as an influential force for breaking new music--the BBC Rock Hour had the "College Concert Series" spin-off featuring the newest bands, CMJ was becoming the Billboard Magazine for new (college radio) music and "College" departments began springing up within the labels to cater specifically to stations like WIDB. At the time we sent out anywhere from 80-100 of these to labels all over the country and the world to let them know what we were doing as well as show our appreciation for their continued service to and support for us.

For the record, "Gonzo" LPs received 8 cuts of play per 4-hour shift, Medium or "Emphasis" LPs--consisting of newer or not-as-strong artists- -had 5 per shift, and New & Recurrent (older Gonzo and select Emphasis) received 4. Records were moved to the back of the rack after airplay to assure diversity as well as minimize repetition
