\nJune 26, 27, 28 is not enough to drag yourself back to Southern Illinois,
\nConsider tacking on a side \u201dtrip.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the old days, \u201cexploring Southern Illinois\u201d meant making it to the spillway.\u00a0But those of us \u201cin the know\u201d have found some special places that could lead to\u00a0cool adventures for you.<\/p>\n

Let me take you down cos I\u2019m going to\u2026<\/p>\n

Giant City is in the Shawnee National Forest, but here is a new way to explore\u2014
\nnot on foot or by car, nor by plane or helicopter.\u00a0 Now you can explore via treetops on the Canopy Tour, using bridges, platforms and zip lines! \u00a0Could be exciting!<\/p>\n

If keeping feet on ground is preferred, the Shawnee Wine Trail covers much of the area.\u00a0 There are tastings, scenic vistas, and tours.<\/p>\n

If the spirit moves you, Bald Knob Cross may appeal.
\nLocated in Alto Pass, the cross can be seen for miles and offers a scenic view from its base, where \u201cPeace hope, faith and charity\u201d are inscribed.<\/p>\n

The Reunion could be just the motivation to double your fun!
\nWhy not include a side trip and make a vacation of it!
\nAs you are zipping thru the trees (or sipping on the wine) in the Shawnee National Forest, you\u2019ll be glad you did!<\/p>\n
