\n\"Slaga<\/a><\/strong>I never understood the attraction of watching some guy spin records.
\nBut it was kinda neat.<\/p>\n

Kent Lewin, his face a mask of horror reminiscent of \u201cThe Scream,\u201d crouched in the corner nursing a Coke and running he board, cringing as he opened my mic.
\nI think I broke him in for Steve Dahl.<\/p>\n

\"Slaga<\/a><\/p>\n

Owner Jim Winfree, thought I was bopping his girlfriend.\u00a0 What a Clown!<\/span>\u00a0 But he was right.<\/p>\n

Telling a dope joke about getting busted, making fun of my probation officer.
\nHalfway through the bit I notice he is sitting at the bar shaking his head.<\/p>\n

Audience members were always trying to give me dope.\u00a0 They were usually successful.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s 2:30 am Sat.
\nI\u2019m in the parking lot behind the bookstore loading album crates in my car.
\nFifteen minutes earlier, Jim Winfree stuck his gun in my face.
\n2 guys who were regular audience members are stumbling through the lot,
\nand they asked me if I wanted to get high\u2026\u2026\u2026…Duh!<\/p>\n

One guy pulls out about 3 grams of MDA (back when it was real).\u00a0He dumps it out and hands me a straw.\u00a0 Being accustomed to a certain dosage,\u00a0I naturally\u00a0assumed the large pile was for me.\u00a0 Much to the astonishment of my newfound benefactors.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s cut to Monday morning, 54 hours later. (God I miss MDA).\u00a0 For some ungodly reason,
\nI find myself in an auditorium sitting in on a Basic Ratio\/Television lecture.
\nAs I begin to sober up and re-enter reality, I realize that there is a full blown debate\/discussion about censorship, FCC power, ethics, morality and profanity.
\nTen minutes after sobering up I realize that they are talking about the Gatsby\u2019s show
\nand asking the professor how could this be on the air.<\/p>\n

Finally one little dweeb (who is probably a network executive today)
\npassionately asks in a plaintive cry:
\n\u201cHow can we, as responsible broadcasters, allow this to happen?
\nCan\u2019t we control it?
\nWhat can we do?\u201d<\/p>\n

I had had just about enough and besides, the bars were opening.
\nI stood up and yelled:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cWE\u2019RE ON CABLE, YOU DUMB ASS!!! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I hit the bar, had some Bloody Marys,
\nwent to the station\u00a0and slept on the couch for 12 hours.<\/p>\n
